Creativity is an interesting thing. I think this is due to its intangibility. The creative process is an interesting thing. Much like walking through a maze blind folded. I feel as if my artistic process reflects my character, my desires, my inhibitions. As i work away on my design i often listen to music, and as i do i begin to wonder what it is that this music reflects within that artist. Listening to Pictureplane, something so abstract in its formal qualities, i often get lost in wonder. Regardless of its original intention this music has inspired my own creative process.

This is the panorama project that i took part in for my Digital Imaging class. I decided to go with the idea of photographing a single figure as an attempt to explore many facets of his character. As i felt that by photographing more then one person would dilute this image from its intention. It regards the acceptance and embrace of oneself, as for me this would be a utopian scape. A world where we are free of the social constructs that cause us to cover ourselves from the world, hiding that which we truly are.

The beautiful thing about panoramic photography is that it allows the artist to explore the many facets of a single entity. In this particular image by Pearson he has used the idea of the panorama to evoke the different levels of a persons character. And this is complimented well by the way in which throughout this pan there is a sense of a progression of time and space, and as a result a progression of character, from dominant to submissive, aggressive to passive, etc.

As artist we spend our lives analyzing and scrutinizing culture. We do this in an attempt to create some sort of commentary so that we may evoke change in the world. However culture is one of the hardest words in all languages to define or fully understand. Words are incredibly imperfect as words hold huge amounts of meaning, value, and opinion. And language is an entanglement of words as they are co-dependent on one another. Language can be understood as our manifestation of culture. And its this culture that embodies your experience, or rather your perception of experience. And so we attempt to comment upon that which is so nebulous and hard to comprehend And as a result we must attempt to approach these matters with openness, as we belong to a global community that holds so many different variations of perception and experience.
